Thursday, October 13: Pulling articles for scanning (physically or electronically). Scanning. Electronic delivery of documents. Shelving. Learning session with Junie covering serials (which was also touched upon when we discussed acquisitions). Junie described the process of sending RFPs (request for proposal) out to vendors for a 5 year window of service, choosing which serials/ serials packages (print, electronic or both) to purchase, involvement in consortia, yearly subscription renewals (and related decisions based upon usage and pricing changes), and using EBSCO NET to electronically track and manage the library's subscriptions along with the Sirsi serials management software.

Week 6 Internship Report

Wednesday, October 5: The library held an interesting series of presentations titled '20 X 20'. The concept was one where a presenter would choose a topic spread across 20 slides (PowerPoint) and have 20 seconds to discuss each slide. Presentation topics included: making lemon pasta, the world of strange and unusual Fair foods, comic books, opera, the frisbee golf course here at OU-Tulsa, the Physician Assistant program, gun collecting, the social website Pinterest, quality Mexican restaurants/ food in Tulsa, across Oklahoma and all over the world. A few prize drawings were held in between presentations and I was fortunate enough to win a gift certificate for one dozen cookies from Felini's. Add it all up and I really enjoyed the presentations (and will enjoy the cookies. Possibly share.)
I also did a little of pulling articles for scanning (physically or electronically), scanning, electronic delivery of documents and shelving.
