Thursday, November 3: Today I had the opportunity to attend a lunch held for SLIS students/ prospective students and faculty. It was sponsored by OLISSA and featured two guest speakers from the University of Tulsa who spoke of their background and experience in academic librarianship. They offered some tips and advice for current and future academic librarians. Their candor and willingness to share their knowledge was greatly appreciated. Bonus: Free food is always nice, too.
Also, Junie took some time to go over my current resume with me and offered advice on how to best present my education, experience and skills. And also what to highlight on my CV regarding specific librarianship-related activities (professional memberships, conferences/seminars attended, etc.).
