Week 5 Internship Report

Monday, September 26: Pulling articles for scanning (physically or electronically). Scanning. Electronic delivery of documents. Shelving.

Hours earned: 2.5

Wednesday, September 28: Today was shorter than I had planned due to some technical difficulties with the ILL [InterLibrary Loan] software. With certain functions being down I was only able to scan items for document delivery. I did do some shelving and pulling of articles (physically and electronically) also.

Thursday, September 29: Pulling articles for scanning (physically or electronically). Scanning. Electronic delivery of documents. Shelving. Had a learning session with Junie about library reserves. We discussed the Schusterman Library's reserve policy for both physical books/ textbooks and e-reserves. Schusterman Library also provides Rotation Reserves which are reserves made available for health sciences students who are often enrolled in short (5-6 week) rotation courses. This is a great benefit for those students as they will not have to purchase textbooks for each short-term course.

Friday, September 30: I had the opportunity to attend the morning session of the Serials Interest Group for All Librarians in Oklahoma [SIGALO] held Friday at the Schusterman library on the OU-Tulsa campus. The presentation was given by a librarian from the Oklahoma City-Metropolitan Library system. The topic of her presentation was the forthcoming cataloging rules of Resource Description and Access, which will replace the current AACR2 cataloging rules at some time in the future. Exactly when is anyone's guess.
